Most transcription assignments are in wav, mp3 or mp4 formats that you can actually send through the Internet. Having a fast Internet connection would help you download the materials faster and send it back to the client as soon as you have completed the task. Aside from having a fast Internet connection, you will need to have a wave pedal to help you stop, pause, forward or rewind the audio files when you are working. If you have the pedal you can work faster since your hands would be free to do the typing without interruptions. Remember that there are many transcription jobs that need to be completed in a short span of time so you must learn to use your time more efficiently.

Now, aside from the home, some transcriptionists actually work in their favorite coffee shops. A home transcriptionist job could become really boring at times especially when you immediately start working immediately after you get out of your bed. If you feel that you could use a change of scenery, you can actually bring some of you work that are already in the editing process to your favorite coffee shop and work from there. When bringing your work to your favorite coffee shop, make sure that you bring along your earphone so that you can listen again to the audio file when you need too. You can also use you earphones to block out the noise from the coffee shop so that you can concentrate on your work.
