Looking For A Job As A Transcription Technician
Being a transcription technician is a rewarding and engaging profession. Transcription allows medical and dental professionals to save a lot of time recording and entering data on forms and other paperwork. Many professionals these days record all of their data into a tape recorder or a digital voice recorder. Later on, they go through their voice records and extract the necessary information to enter into computer programs or transcribe the necessary information onto client paperwork or files that go between medical offices.
To offset all of the work involved in entering data onto necessary forms or extracting required data from voice recordings and entering it onto forms, there has evolved the profession of transcription technicians. Transcription technicians do this work for them; they have a vast knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding and are able to remove data from recordings and put it in a paper form. From the forms and paperwork that the transcription technician creates, the data can be translated into any language that is desired and transmitted electronically if necessary.
Transcription jobs are plentiful these days, as are other medical related professions. If you get on the web and look at job postings or open up your newspaper and read the classified ads you will notice a plethora of advertisements requesting the services of trained, professional medical and dental transcription technicians. Many of these positions are in-house positions, where technicians receive data on a small cassette or a computer data file and transcribe it.
If you are looking for a position as a transcription technician open the phone book and inquire at surgical centers, dentist's offices, and doctor's offices in your area. The receptionist or secretary who answers the phone will be able to advise you of any open positions in that office and if you're lucky they may even have information about openings for such positions in other areas or at other offices if they don't have any open positions.
If you took transcription courses at a local college, on the internet, or through a mail order transcription education program, they may also have information on open positions for transcription jobs in your area. Many of these programs even offer placement assistance for those who have graduated their program.
Transcription technicians are knowledgeable professionals and they are in high demand in today's economy. After careful searching, it shouldn't be too much of a problem to find a position if you put in the work and are looking in the right places. It may take a little bit of detective work and investigation, but the jobs are out there!
There are also an increasing number of at-home transcription technician jobs, so these jobs are great for new moms, people with physical limitations or those who have difficulty getting back and forth to their place of employment. If you just don't feel like leaving the house, a position as a transcription technician may be the right position for you.
